This Is The '80s Beauty Trend We Can't Get Enough Of
It's time to get rosy.
You ask us what the hottest throwback beauty trend right now is? We'll tell you: blush draping. It's a makeup technique that first gained prominence on the high cheekbones of Kate Moss and her crew in the '80s and '90s.
Unlike your modern-day contouring that relies heavily on bronzers and highlighters, blush draping is all about adding a pop of color to enhance facial features. Believe it or not, the magical pink powder can be used to achieve that picture-perfect, Keira Knightly-esque, razor-sharp cheekbone look we're all dying for.
In addition to enhancing your facial structure, blush draping makes your cheeks the entire focal point of your face, meaning your eyes and lip require little makeup. Traditionally, the eyes are kept simple, perhaps utilizing a nude shadow and mascara, but you can also double the blush up as an eye shadow that creeps down the face, from the temples to the apples of the cheeks (see diagram for clarity). As for the lips, a subtle gloss or nude lipstick is most certainly the way to go.
It's a look we saw all over the SS17 runways, and now it's time to try rocking this bold cheek with a blush pink athleisure getup for a really big look. To avoid that '80s power-everything aesthetic, keep everything from your hair to your shoes chic and simple.
