Everybody loves shoes. Some even consider them a girl's best friend (when diamonds are out of reach). But when it comes to buying a new pair, it can be difficult to decide on something that is stylish and versatile when there are so many options out there. So at WTG, our editors are always on a mission to come up with new ideas to help our readers find the perfect solution, whether it's for work or play.
As you can imagine, our editorial team is a diverse group of individuals with a range of tastes and styles, so asking them to unanimously agree on one, must-have shoe for spring seemed like it could take... a while. But we were determined to get the answer. Each editor was asked to compile a list of seven styles of shoe for spring, and when all the answers came in we were sure to have a winning trend across the board.
It came down to a straight tie between strappy flats and mules. After a lengthy discussion and a series of subsequent votes, one shoe came out on top: the mule.
This is one of the best '90s trends to return to the fray, and we've seen this backless style in stores in endless variations, from simple flats to sky-high heels, from peep-toes to extravagant bow designs. With so much scope as far as design is concerned, just think of the possibility a mule can bring to your outfit: elevate your t-shirt and jeans with a pair of pop-colored, block-heeled mules, or style a pair of flats with a flowing dress for an unexpected, relaxed, bohemian look.
